I love the different ways to work out legs, like leg press really isn't that impressive seeing as its a he'll of a lot easier than squats.

I see it as a good starting place to build muscle. But I do agree on the laziness haha.
Some people have bad backs though

Leg press is dumb. Squat if you want real results and strength.

Your back wouldn't be an issue with deads or squats with proper form. Have someone teach you if you need to learn. Bad form will kill your lower back but if your doing it right shouldn't have problems.

Wanna get into protein powder because I know I don't get enough of that on my own but I have no idea where to start with it. Any suggestions? I'm getting pretty solid results as it is, but I know that definitely couldn't hurt.

Mine as well just go drink sugar. I use Jay Robb Whey protein. Mix it with coconut water, tastes like a milk shake but has zero sugar and gives you the post workout protein to carb ratio you need after a workout. Jay Robb has minimal ingredients and doesn't have all the crap they put in most Whey proteins. Most proteins are full of garbage and sugar. Look it up. Try out Jay Robb. You can get it at GNC, Vitamin Shoppe or Amazon.

Thats probably unreasonably expensive. I think steverey is looking for something simple and not fancy that can also do the job.
