Leo is one of the best ever. The issue with him is that he has such a huge following of people who barely know his movies and just jump on the bandwagon which makes other people think that he's overrated as an actor because he gets so much praise from casuals.

Okay but where's Gregory Peck ? Humphrey Bogart ? Jack Nicholson ? Henry Fonda ? Jack Lemmon ? William Holden ? Anthony Hopkins ? Tom Hanks ? Charlie Chaplin ? I can name at least 30 better actors than Dicaprio , and at least a 100 better actors than Depp.Yeah right!! You clearly have something against Depp. And Humphrey Bogart played a different version of himself in every movie (he was a movie star not a real character actor), Jack Nicolson is good but doesn't have impressive range in character either (all of his characters look like they exist on the same block), Tom Hanks is good but not great (lacks impressive range in character as well and is more of a movie star than character actor), and the same pretty much goes for every other actor you mentioned with the exception of maybe Hopkins and Fonda.
The best actors IMO are chameleon actors, actors who can completely disappear into a role like Lon Chaney, Paul Muni, Fredric March, Charles Laughton, Laurence Olivier, Alec Guinness, Peter Sellers, Dustin Hoffman, John Hurt, Daniel Day Lewis, Gary Oldman, Vincent D'Onofrio, Johnny Depp (though we always recognize him because of his very distinguishable face) and Jared Leto. The most complete actors are the best, actors like Gary Grant, Humphrey Bogart, Gary Cooper, Clark Gable, Denzel Washington, Tom Hanks, Tom Cruise, Will Smith are more movie stars (mainly one dimensional but possess some range) than character actors (exceptional range).
Take Vincent D'Onofrio for example, this is what a real top tier actor acts and looks like.

All completely different looking and acted characters.
