Leonardo Dicaprio would only win an Oscar in a weak best actor category I believe.

Who's the more versatile actor? Gary Oldman or Johnny Depp?

because what heath ledger did to be in character was amazing. Heath Ledger spent three months preparing the role, Daniel Day Lewis spent an entire year preparing for his.

Better performance: Marlon Brando in The Godfather or Daniel Day Lewis in There Will Be Blood?

Are you into classical movies & actors? The best actors I've seen from those times are John Barrymore, Fredric March, Paul Muni, Spencer Tracy, Robert Donat, Charles Laughton and Laurence Olivier.

I'm a big Jimmy Stewart fan. He's not one of the greatest actors or anything but I really like his movies. Also a fan of Gregory Peck.

Yeah those two are like second tier when it came to acting abilities, the guys I mentioned above were first tier. Two great movie stars nonetheless. I also like the rise of method actors in the late 1940's and early 1950's with Montgomery Clift, Marlon Brando and James Dean leading the way. And the contrast between them and the old movie stars who were trained in classical theatre and Shakespeare. I agree with Marlon Brando and Fredric March comments about a lot of old classical movie stars playing themselves instead of acting.

I like your female list though and am happy to see Vera farmiga so high up I've had the same top 10 for probably two years now. Some of it has changed slightly (like Tom Hardy has moved up this last year because of more movies I've seen him in and he proves to be a phenomenal actor every time) but overall the same top 10 just in different orders. Vera is bae, I hope she breaks out as a star soon.

Inherent Vice, Walk the Line, The Master and The Immigrant are my favorite performances by him. But my list is more the actors I love watching, for whatever reason, and he's a very captivating actor in my opinion. He has his own very unique presence.
