Watched Hell or High Water today. Good movie, confused why it's nominated tho tbh. I can think of other movies that could take its place.

Watched La La Land yesterday. It was meh. At some points I found it awesome, others it was plain boring and flat. The story was a little flat too. But I have a story of not getting Best Picture movies lol, for example Birdman, I found it extremely boring.

Haven't seen Streep's performance but wouldn't be shocked if Amy deserved it over her. Meryl always gets a nod even if it's not deserving lol she'll probably win too.

Something I don't like about the Oscars is that they nominate pretty much everyone from like 5 different movies. Like La La Land, Manchester by the Sea etc. Seems like every actor/actress from these films gets nominated, takes away from it. It makes it seem like the actor/actress didn't actually matter that much, like they are nominated just because the critics loved the MOVIE so much. Like they could have put any person into some of the roles and that person would've been nominated.

This is definitely a thing sometimes but at the same time, just like the director, cinematographer, production designer, etc. make the movie what it is, so do the performances so it's not surprising when a great movie also has an actor or two nominated.

I get that, but nominating so many people from one movie actually takes away from each individual performance in my opinion. Like my reaction is just like "o, of course they won, they were in such and such movie that is winning for everything."

Manchester by the Sea is f*cked.
Nice to see that Lucas Hedges got a nom, but idk why Michelle was nominated tbh she was barely in the movie. She was good tho

I just finished La La Land. I thought it was a great movie! I was into it the whole time. I enjoyed all of the music too. The ending was done SO well! I can see this one getting Best Picture.

Florence Foster Jenkins was way better than I expected. Wasn't very excited to watch it but it's really fun. I always say Meryl prob just got nominated cuz she's Meryl every year but once again I'll eat my words and say she was fantastic.

I like Denzel as an actor but usually think he plays the same role every time and he kind of still did for Fences but damn he was really good. Viola was too. Right now I think they both deserve to win for their categories.
