I would also like to point out, to Nate in particular, that LEO STANDS A CHANCE! Leo won the Golden Globe for Wolf on Wall Street, so it puts him as a front runner

I know! I hope he finally gets an Oscar. It'll kind of make me mad if he gets an oscar for this movie though when his performances in movies like a The Aviator, Gilbert Grape, Blood Diamond and Django were all more deserving of an Oscar. But they really just owe him an Oscar for anything he's in because it's been a long time coming.
Kind of annoyed by the overwhelming amount of nominations American Hustle got. Talk about overrated...

12 Years A Slave better take home Best Picture and not American Hustle! It's a shame Lupita Nyong'o will likely not win Best Supporting Actress because of the obsession with Jennifer Lawrence. Matthew Mcconaughey or Bruce Dern will win Best Actor (but I'm pulling for Chiwetel Ejiofor). Leonardo Dicaprio winnng would be a travesty, he's a really good actor, but he's doesn't have elite level acting abilities and his acting in Wolf Of Wall Street is pretty typical from him.

I agree! As much as I loved American Hustle, I was shocked that 12 Years a Slave did not win more awards at the Globes. I feel like it will be the same at the Academy awards with many of the winners from the Globes winning but 12 Years a Slave should at least win Best Picture. As for Leo... I would absolutely love for him to finally win an Oscar! He was fabulous in Wolf but I think this one is McConaughey's to lose. I haven't seen Dallas Buyers Club but I've heard nothing but great things about it and nothing but great things about his performance. I was shocked to see that Jonah Hill got a nomination though! Happy, but shocked!

Matthew Mcconaughey ,Bruce Dern and Chiwetel Ejiofor were all better than Leo, I don't think he has a chance.

What's a travesty is that he hasn't won an Oscar yet. There are plenty of oscars-caliber actors who are more deserving. Leo is not in the league of Gary Oldman or Peter O'toole (when he was alive). Heck, Bruce Dern (who's a nominee) is more deserving as well.

Best Picture 12 Years A Slave Captain Phillips Gravity The Wolf of Wall Street Dallas Buyers Club American Hustle Her
Best Actor Leonardo DiCaprio (The Wolf of Wall Street) Matthew McConaughey (Dallas Buyers Club) Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years A Slave) Tom Hanks (Captain Phillips) Joaquin Phoenix (Her) Christian Bale (American Hustle)
Best Actress Cate Blanchett (Blue Jasmine) Meryl Streep (August: Osage County) Amy Adams (American Hustle) Sandra Bullock (Gravity)
Best Supporting Actor Jared Leto (Dallas Buyers Club) Michael Fassbender (12 Years A Slave) Jonah Hill (The Wolf of Wall Street) Barkhad Abdi (Captain Phillips) Jeremy Renner (American Hustle) Bradley Cooper (American Hustle)
Best Supporting Actress Lupita Nyong'o (12 Years A Slave) Julia Roberts (August: Osage County) Jennifer Lawrence (American Hustle) Sally Hawkins (Blue Jasmine)
Those are my rankings of the nominees/the people who I think should have been nominated over certain nominees. I have yet to see Nebraska or Philomena, but I will be watching them both before Sunday night.
As you can see, not too big of a fan of American Hustle. I think it was highly overrated because of the cast which was really the only part of the movie that made it Oscar worthy in my opinion. I hope 12 Years A Slave wins, it was my favorite, but Captain Phillips is close.
Note: Despite my bias for Leonardo DiCaprio, I just think he deserves to win because he has yet to win, and they owe him an oscar. But Matthew McConaughey gave the best performance I think and he'll probably win.
