Good! I'm putting in lots of overtime with this construction project. It's $28/hour. The people in my job site think I make $40/hour overtime. I'm like ok they really must hate me, but i think most of them make more than me or the same. I literally do nothing so if they think I make more then u know they're talking sh*t. I haven't said sh*t though. I know the inspector (who's around my age) makes like $37/hour overtime and put in 48 hours of overtime last period. That's on top of his regular 80 hour normal pay. That should be illegal. Finally did my taxes and got my return. Time to pay off my car maybe? HOLY f*ck DUDE I make $10 an hour at one job & $6 an hour plus lousy tips at the other. I can't imagine making the kind of dough you're making, never mind overtime. That's amazing & nuts. Woohoo, pay it off!

A good pal's car was broken in to last night & her backpack with her wallet & important notebooks were stolen. Another friend going through depression & leaving a a bad living situation needs a little continued assistance getting by so that she doesn't have to return to an abusive household. Think I'm going to be off from my savings goals but throwing support at friends feels super important.
I also just found out that EVERYONE except me is planning to quit the cafe over the next month. Graduation, new jobs, moving...My boss thinks that three people are leaving & she's a little worried about finding good folks to fill gaps but she has no idea its going to be a full turn over. I hope that folks tell her soon. It already feels stressful but the sooner new folks are secured, the less stressful it will be in the long run. I'm also trying to hook up out of work friends with shifts at the cafe its kind of hard. I know that these friends need work & I want to get them what I can but I also know that some of them aren't great workers & won't stay long if they're hired. I don't want to contribute to the cafe being unstable or set my boss up in a bad position. I'm trying to talk with friends about expectations & responsibilities but its weird to be in this position...

I told my boss two months ago id be leaving in August. He was new to his position (got promoted from within) and I was trying to let him know he'd be losing someone valuable and to plan accordingly. I've since been passed over for a promotion because of it (the other person was equally qualified to me but I was more senior, and was told it was specifically because I was leaving by a friend who is close to the boss). This was when I was still 6 months out. I talked to me boss and he said I'm one of his top workers so it couldn't have been merit based. The promotion was 2 dollars extra which would have given me good leverage when I move (I'm staying within the company).
Regardless its usually best to only give the mandated 2 weeks of notice in order to not suffer any backlash, even if it screws over your boss unfortunately.

That sucks, James Your boss should have considered that you are the best worker & you're were staying within the company so you're planning to take your skills to another location but will still be benefiting the company. I've been wrongly passed over for a job before & its just so defeating. Hope that you're bosses & co-workers value you better once you get out there.

I want to recommend them to my boss because they need jobs...... but at the same time, I really don't know if they'd be good workers. So I feel conflicted.

Don't recommend them. It looks bad on you if they're bad and you recommended them. If you care about your reputation, that is.

Up to $6,000 sitting in savings right now. My goal is $6,300 by May. I have $80 in my wallet & $45 more in checking plus $95 owed to me this week for dog walking & cat sitting. I could transfer another $100 to savings by the end of the day & still have enough cash on hand to feel comfortable. My sister is holding a $1,000 check from my grandmother for me but due to my work schedule, we haven't been able to work out a time for her to come down for a visit & drop off. Is it cheating to say I've reached my goal if I know I have $1,000 check in the wings but not on hand? I just confirmed a dog sitting gig for almost the entire month of May watching the dog that I usually walk three times a week. Her owner is a young law professor & its a nice house with decent pay. Between that job plus staying steady at the cafe & library, I should reach my $7,800 end of May goal without a problem. I feel like I'm still staying on track... How are y'all doing in your goals? Bryan, Phil?

In other boring news: I actually opened another credit card. An Amazon rewards card with a $500 limit. Right now I'm using it to pay for health insurance & groceries. Necessary, low cost expenses that I can pay off in total at the end of the month while also slowly building up some store credit with Amazon. Keeping my credit lines open & active but under control...I hope.

Yesterday I submitted paperwork seeking pre-qualification for a home mortgage loan up to $55,000. The loan officer sent my info on to the underwriter. And now I wait...

Purchasing a house sounds awful. I mean, I don't even like car shopping.
I put in 16 hours of overtime this pay period (in addition to the 12 extra hours I put in last week). April has been good to me. I think I might do something fun with the extra cash, but I dunno what.

All your adult-talk makes me feel inadequate. Same Bryan, same. Lol Sorry, y'all. I feel like I have no idea what I'm doing & I have a difficult time imagining that this will work out but I'm going through the steps. Sort of surprised myself by this turn of interests & events...I got a call on Friday afternoon asking to conference call between the lending bank & Edfinancial to confirm my student loan repayment status. Unfortunately, I had to just stepped out of the show & had 14 minutes to get to the bookstore for my volunteer commitment so I wasn't able to have the conversation then. They left me instructions on how to call back & set up the conference call. I have to do that on Monday. Nervous. I'm really unsure if I'll be accepted or not.

I make like 100 bucks a month because my manager is an idiot with his scheduling. So I guess any hope of getting a car this year is done.

Talk to your manager firmly but politely or get a new job Well a lot of seniors that work there who are graduating are about to quit. So I think I'm gonna hang in there. But I still hate that I don't get anything because I don't have a vagina.
