I just sat down with another financial advisor and gave a pretty fat check to invest in a Roth IRA and some other investments and we figured out what that money will actually be when I'm around 55. While it killed me to just hand over cash like that it's feels real f*cking good to know I'll be set up and be able to take care of mah grand babies ❤️❤️

you just wanna talk to me huh? get ready for a snap Lmfaooo I was also very subtly throwing shade that you are trusting an app with investments 🤔 Although I know nothing about investments so I prob shouldn't talk but I'd be scared to do that

I got sidetracked last month with a few extraneous expenses. I bought a super sweet Cinelli track frame that I'm looking forward to gathering components for & slowly building over the next year. Mostly though, I think I just spent too loosely, mostly on food with / for friends. But once I get paid on Friday, I should be close to back on track. Making up ground is an uphill battle so I'm going to try to avoid being in this situation again as I move forward.

I got a new travel rewards credit card to pay for my Africa trip this Christmas/New Years. I ended up finding RT tickets from D.C. To Nairobi for like $850, and then RT tickets from Minneapolis to D.C. for around $200. I was worried about paying for flights, but I got a f*cking steal for these tickets, plus my rewards can go straight to paying down the credit card, so I ain't even stressing.
I was always stupid about not using credit cards, even though I've had one since I was 15. I was so worried about my credit score but it's actually good so I ain't trippin anymore. Now I'm just Africa trippin #byeeee

Made up some ground & got my savings up to $9k today. Still on track to save $19k by the end of the year which feels really good. So tired of stressing about this but also afraid that if I don't & my job is wiped away, I'll wish that I had saved more diligently.

Its funny to read back through a few pages of this. I forgot that I almost didn't have enough money for my house downpayment! How could I let that happen? Ha! I paid off my house back in March or April of this year--that's ~$80,000 in less than three years. And I have $22,000 in savings now plus a retirement account and a steady full time job. I'm in a much better place than I was a few years ago which is really nice to see.

So I didn’t realize my taxes were f*cked up at BOTH of my jobs so basically they haven’t been taking out federal taxes at all... I checked my original paperwork at both and it was correct, so BOTH jobs f*cked up my stuff when putting it into the computer. Now it’s partially my fault because I wasn’t checking my pay stubs but like.... I ain’t know I had to check them. I’m not an ADULT adult yet. So basically I was expecting a refund but now I owe the IRS over $1000 LMFAOOOOO f*ck MY LIFE

Oof, that's rough Were they able to change your paperwork so that this doesn't happen again in the future? Are you working anywhere as a contract worker so that you can claim deductions against your earnings? I'm relying on that to reduce what I owe...
