Finally done this season, and I couldn't be happier. Unlike the other seasons I've done so far, this one wasn't actually a rewatch... but rather my first time watching Thailand. And let me tell you, it's a terrible season (and I think the only other season I can say that about is Redemption Island... and even that was slightly more enjoyable). Terrible cast, most of whom I didn't even care about. Lot of forgettable people, and yeah... I just didn't really care enough about the cast. Really only loved the top 2 on my list, and everyone after the was starting to get bland. Not sure how many people are going to disagree with my opinions, but I can see a few disagreements happening. Oh well, done with Thailand... on with Amazon. Another first watch for me, and hoping it's better than Thailand 16. John Raymond (16th Place)Barely knew anything about him. He tried to be the leader, and he had the prank with the drinking water. Didn’t really even get a proper “this is why he got voted out” episode. It just sort of… randomly happened. Not very interesting, and kind of annoying. 15. Jed Hildebrand (14th Place)It seems like in a lot of the earlier seasons, there was always a guy that looked fit who would turn out to be lazy. Dirk, Nick (if memory serves correct), all the young Samburu guys, and Sean and Rob. Jed was the lazy guy this season, and he wasn’t very interesting at all. At least with most of the other guys I mentioned, they had interesting personalities… Jed was very bland (as were a lot of people this season…) 14. Erin Collins (9th Place)Honestly, least memorable person this season for me. Didn’t really do anything, didn’t have any relationships really. She was just there. 13. Tanya Vance (15th Place)There was nothing really interesting about Tanya. She got sick, and that’s really all I remember about her. Higher than John and Erin just because of her being slightly more memorable due to getting sick, and I just liked her way better than John. 12. Ghandia Johnson (13th Place)She was an entertaining character for sure, but it was a little uncomfortable to watch the whole Ted incident and accusation. I think if that whole thing didn’t happen, she’d be a lot higher on my list… but that brought her down a lot. 11. Ken Stafford (8th Place)Ken was yet another person this season who didn’t offer a lot. Once again, kind of boring. He’s this high simply because of his arguments with Robb. That makes him memorable and it was fun to watch the arguments. 10. Jake Billingsley (6th Place)Honestly, up until the merge episode I completely forgot Jake existed. He had his first episode of picking the tribes, and after that he disappeared. Then at the merge he reappears and plays the game pretty hard. I admired how hard he tried to stay in the game, but at the same time I’m glad he left because it was starting to get a little repetitive. It was his time to go. 9. Stephanie Dill (12th Place)It was interesting watching her be the outcast of the tribe at the beginning and then trying to fit in only to get voted off in the same episode. She wasn’t the typical “I do all the work and everyone else is lazy” type of person. There was some entertaining quality about her that made her more enjoyable than other women who come on and complain about others not doing work. I think it’s probably the fact that she mostly just accepted it and didn’t try to boss everyone around to get them to work. 8. Clay Jordan (2nd Place)From what I heard from other people before watching this season, I expected Clay to be a lot more unlikeable than he actually was. In my opinion he was sort of just in the middle. He wasn’t terrible, but there was also no real redeeming quality about him. He was unintentionally funny at some points, but not enough for me to give him a real big boost, so he’s staying around the middle. 7. Ted Rogers, Jr. (5th Place)Ted seemed like the most relaxed, laid back guy from Chuay Ghan (not including the Ghandia incident), and it was kind of nice to have someone in this whole strategic game who was a little more relaxed. Of course he was still playing the game, but he didn’t seem nearly as cutthroat as some of the others. 6. Brian Heidik (Winner)Yes, I do see Brian as a villain, but I don’t see him as big of a villain as a lot of other people do. He didn’t really do anything villainous in the game… unless I completely missed something. He wasn’t necessarily likeable, but he was entertaining. Definitely glad he won over Clay, but would have been happier with some other people winning. He was alright, would have been better if he didn’t win. 5. Penny Ramsey (7th Place)I feel like Penny was cast as the Colleen/Elizabeth sweet girl role, and then halfway through the game she decided to let this strategic, somewhat villainous person from inside of her out. It was weird to watch, but at the same time it was interesting to watch people change their opinions from “Oh she’s just the sweet girl” to “Wow, she’s actually playing the game”. Would have been good if she could have hid her strategic side from others and just appear like the nice girl. 4. Robb Zbacnik (11th Place)Robb was a good character just because his personality clashed with a bunch of people in the game. Shii-Ann and Ken were the two most memorable conflicts with Robb, and because of his clashing personality it was entertaining to watch his interactions with others. Fun fact, before watching I thought he was going to be a major villain because somehow I knew about the chocking Clay at the challenge scene before I watched this season so I just figured he was a villain because of that. 3. Shii Ann Huang (10th Place)I try very hard not to allow other seasons to effect early season rankings, and for Shii Ann that’s a VERY good thing, because I couldn’t stand her in All Stars. I’m sure that during my All Stars rewatch I’ll view her differently, because I actually enjoyed her in Thailand. I thought the way she went out was perfect also. It was the story of her feeling isolated from her tribe, and first chance she gets switches over to the other tribe… but sadly for Shii Ann, the big twist screwed her over. Very entertaining to watch. 2. Helen Glover (4th Place)Helen had some of the funniest confessionals of Survivor and had me laughing quite a lot. The thing that makes her awesome is I don’t think she was intentionally trying to be funny, she was pretty serious most of the time. Her attitude and personality were fun to watch. She was kind of snarky, sarcastic, serious, and strategic all at the same time. Good mix, and a very entertaining character. 1. Jan Gentry (3rd Place)Jan and Helen would have been such an amazing final 2, but of course that couldn’t happen. Jan was crazy. Simple as that. The cemetery for the bat and chicken head, as well as her crying after pretty much every tribal council. I loved watching her and was rooting for her (even though I knew she wasn’t winning). If she had won this season though I think I would have liked it so much more.

I just finished this season and it wasn't AS bad as everyone makes it out to be. Still it wasn't that good either. I was actually really invested in the season at the beginning but once the merge hit and it was obvious that Chuay Gahn was just gonna take out Sook Jai I just stopped caring really. Even when the Chuay Gahn members had to start turning on each other I was just like...okay let me watch this to get it over with.
I will agree with the consensus that there weren't that many likable characters. For one, I did love Helen and j was rooting for her. Jan is a cute sweet old lady but what did she do even? And I actually did like Brian. He played a great game and definitely deserved to win. Otherwise I didn't like...basically anyone else. Not even Shii Ann because all she did was COMPLAIN.
But yeah overall not that great but not TOO bad either

Yeah the general Consensus has changed for this season over the course of time. It's obviously one of, if not the least viewed season. Also, I've heard if you go into it with low expectations, you'll end up pleasantly surprised. That being said, it's still probably gonna feel like a chore to finish this season.

I am never willing to say a Survivor season is bad. They're all good to some degree. But this season is bottom 5.

This season at least has some good aspects like Helen and not as bad as RI or OW for me.

I stand by this season having some cool stories and characters like Brian, Helen, Jan, Clay, Robb. I don't think it deserves the reputation it had even if it's still not really a good season.

I think the thing about Thailand is that it's not a very good survivor season compared to some other survivor seasons, but as a stand alone entity compared to nothing it's still good just like every season.

Yeah but my main argument is its not as bad as RI or South Pacific or One World or a few other seasons. It has more going for it than those bottom tier seasons. I think Samoa, Micronesia, RI, South Pacific, One World, and Caramoan are all worse seasons than Thailand. I haven't seen it in a while tho.

I agree but Thailand came after Marquesas and before Amazon so it's like an average season next to great ones so it looks worse, plus grindgate... Those others like RI, came after Nicaragua which wasn't the best, Samoa I don't agree and Micro I don't agree, but SOPA came after RI so it's instantly better, and OW came after both SOPA and RI.

I think Amazon is more polarizing now, I've heard people share more negative opinions about it lately. I think Nicaragua was a really fun season btw, very Gabon and Panama like to me. Samoa and Micronesia suffered from awful editing (more to Samoa) and Micro being all flash and little substance.
