The camera opens up to scenes of the roaring waves and tropics of the Indian shorelines as cuts of elephants, rhinos, tigers and deadly snakes flash between them. Nate Probst's voice overlays as the camera cuts to a truck with the backs of two men shown behind the window in the bed of the truck.
Nine seasons have passed, and over 125 people have played the game.
The camera cuts to Cole dabbing while standing up in a speedboat while his partner tries to keep him from falling out.
And through the past five years, bonds have been made...
A scene of Phil and Ashley offering each other their idols in the jungle of Japan is followed by another scene of Holly hugging Superboy from the row behind him at the Solomon Islands reunion as Superboy smiles for the first and only time in his life.
...and broken.
Joey is shown chuckling to himself at tribal council as Cole walks up to Nate with his torch as a single tear falls from his eye.
Alice is shown cutting off Brian's nipple with a bamboo chute at their Madagascar camp.
And while game relationships have been tested by the cutthroat game of Survivor throughout the years...
Tom is shown explaining to his roomate why Vova is the worst as they walk down a dirt path in the jungle together.
They've never been tested like this before.
James attempts to hold Kristina's hand as she quickly speeds ahead of him as they walk onto a large beach.
Twenty castaways, old and new will battle in the country of India for the chance of becoming the ninth Sole Survivor. But what will happen when they are no longer playing for themselves, but also for someone they care for outside of the game?
Nate is shown parachuting from an exploding helicopter down to the beach as the camera zooms in on his face.

The ten pairs cheer and clap and size up the other players.
Before we get started, let's introduce our pairs....
First up, from our most recent season, Chile, we have David (DScott ) and his friend Dakota (DaKING ).
And our second returnee from Chile, Josh (Josh ) and his twin brother Jude (Jude ).
From Malaysia we have the always extra Setsu (Setsu-Maria Ghomes ) with his online f*ck buddy Joe (joeker ).
And another character from that sh*t-show of a season, we have Jonas (Helen of Troy ) and his online friend Mud (mudndawilderness ).
And now getting to the thirstier players back for their third or fourth time...
From Bermuda, possibly the thirstiest of all, Cole (Coke ) with another in-real-life friend he somehow managed to get on here, Jacob (Jacob ).
And the Tonga duo that never get a break from each other...
James (James ) and his online ex-girlfriend, Kristina (K )...
and Tom (tsky429 ) who I'm sure has a lot to say about Vova not being here, with his roommate John (delta2178 ).
From Solomon Islands, hopefully to make merge this time maybe idk probably not, Stan (@desertfox ) and his brother James (James ).
And finally, 2/3 of one of the most successful alliances in Survivor history, Dewie (Dewie890 ) and Jon (Jgrubl )...
and a our only pair of two new players, online step-brothers Jabbar (jabbar ) and Sam (SammySosaTV ).
Now the ten of you veterans will be the Vamana tribe wearing green buffs...
and the ten of you new to the game will be on the Kurma tribe wearing blue buffs.
Before you all part ways, however, you will be competing in your first immunity challenge.
Nate unveils a stand holding two individual immunity necklaces.
Individual immunity, that is.
Stan pees himself a little.
For this challenge, you will be competing for safety not only for yourself, but for your loved one as well. Tonight, both tribes will be going to tribal council and voting the first and second person out of this game. If your pair wins, you will both have immunity at tribal council. This also means that if Dewie and Jon or Sam and Jabbar win the challenge, there will be two people immune on one tribe, and nobody immune on the other.
