Don't read this if you haven't finished!! Alternative theories. I like 1 and the very last one
I don't think the ex did it. But I think the ex did participate in a police conspiracy when it came to finding the car. I guess unknowingly, at first. I don't think the young men were actively involved in the conspiracy, but I think they knew an investigative mistake was made that could ruin the case and they wanted to make sure that that mistake was never found out. This response is pretty much what I think about the ex and brother: www.reddit.com/r/MakingaMurderer/comments/3yho3u/mike_halbach_and_hillegas_seem_sketchy_due_to/
I always thought the ex was super sketchy during the search and especially during court. And ESPECIALLY when it came to his goddamned cell phone testimony. I thought it was crazy that there wasn't anything more on it after his testimony. But I think the cops n sh*t knew that he didn't commit the murder, but they knew he was in on the "car discovery conspiracy". Because, um....that was so f*cked up. The cops wanted to nail Avery, so they couldn't have the car evidence mucked up, and since the ex (and the brother!!!!) participated in the fabricated car discovery story, they were protected from further scrutiny. Also I don't know how the brother could sit there through all the court cases and still say what he said about Avery's guilt to the press. He was the model good brother, but he knew the case was f*cked up, so he had to keep reiterating a point. I think there is a reason he was the family spokesman, but whatev. Yes, he wanted justice for Theresa so bad, but imo all that really means is that he wanted the case not to fail, regardless of who did it. If you look at him during the court room sessions, you know he is thinking really hard about the defense argument, and sometimes he gives uneasy looks to his brother, so I think he was actually buying what the defense was selling, but he had too much invested in the case (obviously) to actually agree with it. I think deep down he thinks Avery is innocent, but its just that he wanted a conviction just because.
I also think they went way overboard with Dassey. Jeez, poor kid.
Len and Lenk and Colburn and Kratz disgust me.
Also RIP, no further mention of Judy Dvorak =(
