I feel like this season would be extremely different had Shane made it. I feel like it might've been more negative of a season, which could be good or bad depending on your preference.
This season is GOAT tbh. I don't care that it's not done yet and it's recency bias. It's f*cking great.

Same with Teresa instead of Kimmi or Monica. f*ck I'm still sad about T-Bird. After rewarding Africa I was like sh*t she totally would have won Cambodia. She's the type of old school player that needs to be brought back.

She's shown some strategic chops in the segments that they actually allow that to shine. I hate that in a returnee season, though, there are so many people who go so long without having a ton of dialogue. Kelly, Keith, Kimmi, and Monica all should've gotten more screen time. I think that's the only major gripe I have with this season. Like Kimmi is an old school player. And she's actually interesting and isn't a horrible talker like I'll admit Wiglesworth is. I'm still kinda bummed Wentworth made it over T-Bird. Honestly Kelley just bores me. I mean yeah she finds idols and stuff but there's nothing really interesting about her personality that pops out at me. Also let's just imagine a season with #QueenStephanie again, Nte.

Yeah I mean they all brought more than was shown I'm sure, but I'm talking about how we saw them before they came to Cambodia. I see a decent amount of both genders that shouldn't have made it over Shane or T-Bird based on what would make a perfect cast, BUT I'm not crying over it either. This cast is obviously a success.

I really loved the first 4 episodes and the last 2, but it has gotten too gamebot-ish for me. People are being so blatantly ignored like Kimmi or Keith, the editing has been really weird with how the Wigglesworth blindside is supposed to mean something when they didn't show her at all, and how when Abi finally votes Woo out, we don't even get a confessional on it. I don't feel like I really know a majority of the people left. Also, love her, but Ciera postmerge was a bad character with the "not playing the game" stuff that I always hate. A lot of potential, but I can't even see it being top 10. Not a bad season at all, but it took a big fall once Varner left.

I feel like HvV was really the same way tbh and it's regarded as a GOAT season. The pre-merge was pretty good at balancing strategy and character development. Varner was great and I still can't get over him going f*cking 4th. He just had such a charisma about him that drew me to him during his first time and I hope to God he gets to play again.

The HvV premerge is godly though and you have a lot of character arcs with Sandra, Russell, Parvati, Coach, Rupert, JT, and Colby to a much lesser extent. The season isn't over tho and maybe they can throw some good stuff in there, but the only thing I know about Wentowrth is that she likes idols lol.

Jeff's was one of the GOAT pre-merge arcs. Kass had a nice one as well talking about her change and actually changing lol.

The problem is that too many Bayon people made it far so there's less crazies. I still think this season is solid though. Probably top 10, maybe top 5.

Yeah but Jeff went out really early and those 2 were some of the few that were good, though the voting bloc and evolution of the game stuff was annoying to me. Those two, Savage, and maybe Abi are the only ones I'd say are good from the merge onwards.

It should set the pace for the seasons after Koh Rong and maybe we'll get a string of really good strategic seasons.

I have a feeling they're really missing out with good arcs for Tasha and Kimmi because they're spending too much time forcing arcs with Spencer's "Boo Hoo nothing goes my way" schtick (even though Tasha has always had a much better Charlie Brown story to work with) and Jeremy's "This is for Val" crap. It's ok in small doses but they're spending too much time on silly, half concocted storylines.

It's not like this is the first season where alliances don't have as much precedence over personal reasons. And alliances are still very much a thing in Cambodia. The game is evolving thing is getting tired. The game is always evolving.

Yeah like the scene where Kimmi talked about her son or the hilarious Keith scene on the reward were really good. Isn't Tasha supposed to be a villain this time around? What happened with that? Even in Cagayan, Tasha got a weak edit postmerge.

I feel like complaining about peoples story arcs shouldn't be a thing anymore. This happens every season and the editors have to do edit 39 days to an hour each week. There are probably a ton of story arcs they could go with but they have to work it in a specific way. If Kimmi is not as important to the game as Spencer is then oh well. They have 20 people and like 13 episodes. Some people are going to be fillers.
I really like this season. It's easily top 5 for me and arguably my fave rn
